Headway Approved Provider project

Headway has developed the Approved provider scheme, a system for use in care homes, respite units and transitional living establishments.

The aim of the project is to devise standards specific to the needs of our client group and, with the use of an assessment tool, develop an inspection system for care homes, transitional living units and respite facilities.

This will ensure these units provide appropriate specialist care for brain injury survivors with complex physical and cognitive impairment. Each approved facility will be accredited by Headway as an Approved Provider for people with a brain injury.

Headway will inspect the care facilities and compile a directory of Approved Providers for use by families and professionals who require such information. Accreditation will last for 2 years with one announced and one unannounced inspection during this time.
