Headway Bristol
Headway Bristol is an evolving and progressive independent charity working from a multifunctional centre which acts as base for staff and volunteers who are involved in support work in the hospital and community, and is a day time resource and activity centre providing a relaxed, safe, pressure-free enviroment. Activities are developed around interests, abilities and needs of brain injured people through group work. Our aim is to help people to re-learn old skills and learn new skills and interests, and gain confidence and coping strategies. We are open five days a week and activities vary daily.
We also have a monthly Carers Group meeting and Drop-In Session on the first Tuesday of each month to provide carers with mutual support and information and for the brain injured to meet others in a friendly, relaxed environment.
We provide one to one outreach services working with people in their homes and helping them make links with their local community. We support them in life skills such as shopping, budgeting, cooking, diary planning etc.
We have a Resource and information Library that provides a wide range of literature and materials about other service providers as well as appropriate books, DVDs, fact sheets and reference books for brain injured people, their carers and other professionals. The Library offers a quiet and relaxed space that's used to provide advice, support etc for Carers.
We can also provide presentations, talks and training.
