The head injured themselves struggle to re-establish themselves in their altered lives, discovering there are almost no opportunities for employment, socialisation or independence. Headway East Kent offers support and care in Canterbury, Thanet, Ashford, Dover and Folkestone. Headway East Kent is affiliated to Headway - the brain injury association, which is the only U.K. charity dedicated to the care and reintegration of those with brain injury into the community. Headway provides advice, support and care for those who have sustained a severe head injury, their families or carers. Each of our Headway Houses is run by a Facilitator, helped by volunteers, who are able to spend a lot of their time encouraging their members to pursue their own interests and achieve self-help to improve independence skills, thus leading the way for their return to community living. Our Carers Support runs carers surgeries throughout the area where relatives and carers can get together for mutual support and information from visiting speakers.
