Kick off for Headway Preston & Chorley
21 December 2010
Headway's services in the north west of England have been boosted by the launch of Headway Preston & Chorley, which kicked-off in fine style in October with an opening event at the home of Preston North End Football Club.
More than 130 people attended the event, named Acquired Brain Injury - Who Cares?, which was designed to assess the need for a Headway service in the region. It was soon followed by the Branch's first drop-in session on 2 November with both events proving to be a great success.
"It's wonderful to be finally up and running," said Katrina Hollingsworth, Chairperson at Headway Preston & Chorley. "It is clear from the number of people attending our launch event and first session that there is a need for more help to be given to people affected by brain injury in this region.
"The drop-in sessions will give people the chance to come together to share experiences, obtain current information and advice, offer mutual support and enjoy the company of those who appreciate what they're going through. These sessions are an important first step and we're looking forward to developing our services as we move forward."
