Test offers easy concussion check

16 February 2010

Headway comments on a story on bbc.co.uk, which details a new test for concussion in athletes. Researchers at the University of Michigan have found that reduced reaction times can indicate concussion. Those who are too slow to catch a falling object - a weighted cylinder - are more likely to have concussion that those who can.

Luke Griggs, Communications Manager at Headway - the brain injury association, said that while the findings were interesting, more research would have to be carried out to confirm them.

He added that anyone displaying the signs of concussion should be taken to hospital.
