Our new home
After three decades, Headway finally has a home of its own. The Edwardian-style building, in Old Basford, Nottingham, is set within mature tree-lined gardens and provides spacious, high-quality space for offices, a training centre and new helpline facilities. Situated less than two miles from the M1 motorway and within walking distance of bus and tram stops connected to the city centre, the new building provides easy access for all.
"This is tremendously exciting and a wonderful opportunity for Headway," said Peter McCabe, Chief Executive of Headway. "The new building will benefit everyone associated with the charity both nationally and locally.
"We have moved from cramped, rented offices that were inaccessible to disabled people and totally inadequate for our needs, into spacious offices outside the city centre. This will not only save considerable expenditure that can be spent on investing in improved services for brain injury survivors, but also enable us to invest in better helpline and training facilities.
"We are already planning to develop the new training centre, from which we will be able to deliver courses for Headway Groups and Branches and other organisations. In addition, the new helpline facility has enabled our staff to provide an improved service in a calm, quiet environment."
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the following charitable trusts that have so generously donated to this project. Without their help, none of this would have been possible:
- The Bradbury Foundation
- The Stavros Niarchos Foundation
- The Henry Smith Charity
- The Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation
- The Palgrave-Brown Foundation
- Garfield Weston Foundation
- Kirkby Laing Foundation
- Rank Foundation
