Imagine the shock of hearing your loved one has been rushed to hospital, their future uncertain. All you want is to be there holding their hand, offering strength, and sharing each precious moment by their side. At Headway – the brain injury association, we believe no one should face brain injury alone. In addition to our other services, our Emergency Fund provides vital grants of up to £500, helping families cover travel and accommodation costs so they can be by the bedside of their loved one at the most critical time.
Every year, hundreds of people apply for this financial support so they can be by the bedside of their loved ones in hospital, but with applications higher than ever for our grants, we’re struggling to meet the demand, and we need your help to reach everyone who needs us.
Give the gift of presence this Christmas by donating
- £65 could cover the cost of an average Emergency Fund grant, ensuring a family is By the Bedside.
- £32.50 could help us cover half the cost of bringing loved ones together By the Bedside.
- £10 could go toward someone’s travel costs, making a visit to be By the Bedside of a loved one possible.
Your vital support means families won’t have to face these heartbreaking moments alone. Not just at Christmas but at the time when our help is needed the most.
Please support our By the Bedside appeal today by making a donation, purchasing a decoration online, or by visiting one of our charity shops. Give the gift of presence this Christmas.
Our By the Bedside appeal raises funds to support families with the expense of staying close to loved ones after a brain injury. We have chosen graphic imagery to convey the reality of brain injury, the images also act to capture attention and inspire support. While we understand these images may stir difficult emotions, this approach helps us generate vital funds to support brain injury survivors and their families. If the images have been distressing for you or a loved one, our helpline is here to provide support on 0808 800 2244.
