Welcome to our new website!

Welcome to Headway UK’s new website, designed to make it easier for people affected by brain injury to find the support, information and services they need.

Our previous website served us well for 11 years, but Headway and the way people use the web have changed a lot in that time. We wanted our new website to better reflect Headway today, while making it simpler for people to find the help and information that matters to them.

Making it easier to find support

We’ve redesigned the structure and navigation of the website, with our support services, including the Headway Helpline and local Headway services, much easier to find.

The new site also works better across different screen sizes and devices, with improved search and new ways to find support.

Other improvements include:

Accessibility at its heart

Accessibility has been a priority throughout the project.

People with lived experience of brain injury have been involved in developing the new website, helping us understand some of the challenges people can experience when using websites after a brain injury and how we can make things easier.

The site has been developed to meet WCAG AA accessibility standards, with clearer layouts, more consistent navigation and an accessibility toolbar from Eye Able that allows visitors to adjust how the site is displayed.

Our accessibility toolbar lets you adjust the website to suit your needs, including changing the font size, contrast and display settings. Click the figure icon in the bottom-right to begin.

Putting Headway’s mission first

Andrew Taylor, Head of Digital at Headway, said:

“With the new website, we wanted to put Headway’s mission at its heart. When somebody affected by brain injury comes to the site, we want them to feel straight away that they’re in the right place and that we’re here to support them.

“Accessibility is hugely important to us at Headway, and that's why we made it central to this project. Designing in this was allows us to make it much quicker and easier for people to find the support and information they need.

“A huge amount of work has gone into getting us here, with people from across Headway and those with lived experience of brain injury helping to shape the site. It’s fantastic to finally see it live.”

We’ll continue to listen to feedback and improve the website, its content and features over time.

For now, have a look around and explore the new site. We hope you like it!
