Title of Project: What role does nature play in recovery from an ABI?

Researcher name: Sophie Schalla

What is this project about?

As part of a research project, we are interested in talking about nature, with people who have experienced a brain injury.

We know that spending time in nature can be helpful for people but at the moment, there is not much research to see if this is true for people who have suffered a brain injury. This project is hoping to find out more about this.

We are hoping to interview around 10-15 people who have an injury to their brain, to hear their thoughts and experiences about spending time in nature.

The interviews will last between 30-45 minutes and if you prefer, you can invite someone you trust to support you during the interview.

In order to take part:

  • You must be aged 18 or over
  • Your brain injury must have happened before the age of 18
  • At the time of interview, it must be 12 months (or more) since the date of your initial injury
  • You must be able to speak English

What will happen to the results of this study?

The results from this project will form a part of the doctoral thesis of the main researcher. The results may also be published in academic journals or presented at relevant conferences.
