Training Description
Behaviours That Challenge is designed for healthcare professionals and volunteers who work with individuals who may display behaviours that challenge. The training focuses on understanding why such behaviours occur, with particular emphasis on the role of the brain injury and context of occurrence rather than viewing behaviour in isolation.
Participants will explore the neurological, psychological, and environmental factors that contribute to behaviours that challenge, alongside the stages of a crisis and how to recognise early warning signs. The session supports attendees to make informed judgements about when behaviour is escalating and when intervention may be required.
Please note: this course does not include de-escalation techniques or hands-on physical intervention methods. The focus is on understanding, prevention, and appropriate non-physical responses.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

- Understand and learn to identify and observe triggers
- Recognise the stages of a crisis and early indicators of escalation
