My poetry: Sam Norris
I am determined to get back to where I was.
Sam Norris a 17-year-old Suffolk speedway rider who suffered a life-threatening brain injury in a crash while racing in Glasgow in June 2019.
It was touch and go if Sam would survive, and the remarkable strides he has made in his recovery in less than two years has been a big influence on others going through the same situation and won him admirers globally.
Here, we share Sam’s moving poem which examines the hidden challenges that he continues to face after brain injury and, despite this, a determination to achieve his dreams.
You seem like you're okay now- No, I will never be the person I was before that fateful day.
My name is Philippa Bateman. I am approaching the 10th anniversary of my traumatic brain injury. I fell down the stairs whilst sleep walking on 19th February 2011. I nearly died.
Find out moreI started my poetry when asked to write a thoughts diary, I felt pressure and could not cope but needed my thoughts to disappear and clear my brain, I find it helps me a lot.
