Trevor Hall – Headway ...
There is a real camaraderie and joy in the group.
Trevor Hall is the secretary of Headway Hartlepool and has held this role since 2019.
Trevor says, “I first began being involved with Headway in 2015. In my professional role as a serious injury solicitor, I have worked for many seriously brain injured clients over the years and have an understanding of the support needed for those surviving an acquired brain injury as well as the families and carers who look after them. In my professional role I am aware that there are significant issues with a lack of post hospital discharge service and support in the community and I feel that it is only right that I help in my own small way to reduce that gap where possible.
I have met many brain injury survivors and their carers throughout my time at Hartlepool Headway and there is currently around 10- 15 members accessing the group at any one time.
The role involves a range of things from organising meetings, activities and ensuring compliance with the branch’s own constitution as well as the wider Headway charity. I’m also first point of contact for any new volunteers and I get involved in meeting new members, fundraising, signposting members to available resources and really anything that needs sorting for the branch or its members.
There is a real camaraderie and joy in the group. There is a real sense of people listening to problems and being listened to. It’s a great support network to witness and be part of.
Alongside fantastic staff, Headway is fortunate to have many amazing volunteers across the network all helping to improve lives after brain injury. We want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to each and every one.
