It would certainly help if people were more educated about brain injury's hidden nature

When Rob Smith was just 23, he suffered a bleed on the brain caused by a brain tumour.

He was left with poor balance and co-ordination as well as slurred speech.

Rob knows firsthand that the lasting effects of brain injury can cause challenges for survivors when carrying out everyday tasks.

Now, Rob appears in our new video raising awareness of the hidden effects of brain injury and the simple steps that can make all the difference to survivors.

"I sometimes have difficulties because of my slurred speech and poor balance," he said. "But not everyone can see my disability.

"I know other survivors who have had bad experiences because people didn't take the effects of their brain injury into consideration.

Every brain injury is different and there are no hard and fast rules about how it effects people. But it would certainly help if people were more educated about its hidden nature and some of the most common effects.
