Rehabilitation and continuing care

Rehabilitation after brain injury

Rehabilitation aims to help the brain learn alternative ways of working in order to minimise the long-term impact of the brain injury. Rehabilitation also helps the survivor and the family to cope successfully with any remaining disabilities.

Get an overview of the rehabilitation process, and get help accessing the best services on our 'Rehabilitation after brain injury' page. You can also search for Headway approved care providers in the In your area section.

Continuing care after brain injury

If a person with a brain injury no longer requires intensive rehabilitation but still needs further support, there are a number of options for continuing care. This includes residential/nursing care, intermediate care and care at home.

You can read all about the options on our 'Continuing care after brain injury' page. We also provide information on self-directed support, which gives you more say in the care you receive and you can search for Headway approved care providers in the In your area section.
