Understanding Brain Injury For care professionals working with brain injury survivors

About the Trainer

This training is delivered by experienced brain injury professionals with extensive expertise in acquired brain injury (ABI), rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary practice. The trainers bring in-depth theoretical knowledge alongside practical, real-world experience of supporting brain injury survivors and their families, enabling participants to deepen their understanding and apply learning confidently to practice.

Training Description

Understanding Brain Injury is an in-depth training session designed for professionals who already have some experience working with brain injury survivors. The course builds on foundational knowledge and explores the complex neurological, psychological, and functional consequences of brain injury in greater detail.

The session provides comprehensive technical content covering brain anatomy, neuroplasticity, mechanisms of injury, and psychological adjustment, alongside practical exploration of cognitive, behavioural, and communication difficulties. Real-life case studies are used throughout to support application to practice.

All participants will receive a digital handout covering the session’s topics. The training is CPD accredited, and attendees will receive two certificates upon completion.
Participants without a foundational background in brain injury are strongly advised to first attend the An Introduction to Brain Injury training.

Additional resources are available via the Headway Information Library.
