Top tips

Here are some top to help you reach your target and get the most out of your JustGiving page.

  • Set a target! Setting a clear goal can motivate your supporters to help you achieve it.
  • The initial donation can set the tone and influence subsequent donations so try and get a good donation to start you off.
  • Share your JustGiving page link in multiple ways to increase the number of times it is seen ie email, WhatsApp, social media, and add the URL to your email signature.
  • In the ‘Your Story’ section encourage eligible supporters to remember and tick the Gift Aid option when they are donating. Gift Aid adds 25% on to a donation at no extra cost to your supporter.  So a £10 donation becomes £12.50, and a £100 becomes £125.
  • Create a QR code from within the JustGiving site and add to posters – making it even easier for people to donate: Boost Your Crowdfunding with QR Code | JustGiving
  • Don’t be shy - send your link more than once to everyone – on average it takes 3 views before someone will donate.
  • Keep updating and refreshing your page with photos, video, Strava app details, add on a thank you for reaching landmarks like the ‘halfway mark’ or ‘only 1 month to go till …’. Keeping your story fresh is engaging to read and supporters really understand how committed you are to achieving your goal, and how much you appreciate their support.
  • Add your off-line donations to your page! So people can see what else you are doing to reach your target – you may have held a raffle/sweepstake, bake sale at work.  Let people see how much you’ve raised in total.
  • Ask your employer if they offer Matched Giving or if they would make a donation.
  • Share your page after your event is over! Did you know that on average approx. 20% of your donations will come in after your event?
  • And don’t forget to add on a personalised thank you after your event for the wonderful messages of support and donations you’ve received.
