Ask your MP to attend the brain injury debate

Brain injury debate in Parliament – ask your MP to attend

MPs will be debating the Government’s upcoming Acquired Brain Injury Action Plan on Thursday 4 December 2025. This is a major opportunity to raise the main issues facing brain injury survivors and local Headway charities and branches in parliament.

Over the last three years, seven local Headway network have had to close their doors for good. We want to use this debate to put the need for investment in local brain injury reablement services firmly on the agenda.

One of our Headway Parliamentary Champions and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group, Sir John Hayes MP, on Acquired Brain Injury will be leading the debate on the UK Government’s ABI Action Plan. Other MPs will make contributions, and the debate will conclude with a response from the relevant government minister.

With the upcoming ABI Action Plan set to be published by the government later this year, this is an important opportunity to make your voice heard.

What can you do to add your support?

  1. Please consider writing to your local MP, asking for them to attend the debate and speak up for brain injury survivors and local Headway services. You can email or write to your local MP using the suggested template (downloadable below). Please feel free to adapt this to your own circumstances.

You can find the MP for your Headway charity using this tool.

The more requests to attend a debate from constituents, the more likely an MP is to attend and speak up for local Headway services.
