Currently we provide a Drop In service (Tuesdays and Wednesdays), a Social Group (Thursdays) and a Carers group which meets fortnightly.
The Drop In service is free of charge and suitable for all of those affected by an Acquired Brain Injury, at Headway Wirral, we consider those living with the effects of a brain injury to be, not only the person with the injury but also those around them who care for and support them. These sessions takes place every Tuesday from 10am – 2pm at: The Fountain Project, 90-92 Chester Street, Birkenhead, Wirral. CH41 5DL and every Wednesday from 10am -2pm at : Meadowcroft, 304 Spital Road, Bromborough, Wirral. CH62 2DE
The Social Group is suitable for group members who have an ABI who want to meet with others in a social setting to chat, keep active, enjoy activities arranged to their taste, take part in outings and events and have lunch provided by our very talented cook. This group costs £3 (a donation towards the lunch) and meets every Thursday from 10am – 2pm at the Potens Building, 20 Park Road South, Birkenhead, CH43 4UX.
Activities are arranged according to members wishes/interests, but currently include arts and crafts, computer skills, games, plant care, floristry and accessible exercise. External activities take place when possible. However, members often enjoy coming for a chat and a cup of tea – no activity is obligatory!
Once a month, the group enjoy a day out to local places of interest, these trips take place on Thursdays and are generally the first Thursday of the month but can sometimes be altered to accommodate other events.
The Carers group meets fortnightly at The Fountain Project, Birkenhead from 11am – 12noon.
We keep a range of Headway published information and can also signpost to other agencies. We work closely with other community organisations to provide access for our members to services that they may require.
Telephone support is available (messages can be left at any time and we will get back to you).
