Student Placement Programme
Brain injury experience for prospective psychologists.
Through a partnership with Cardiff University, each year Headway Cardiff and South East Wales provides full time student placement opportunities to five Psychology Undergraduate students and five post graduate MPsych students. Read more.

Inspirational Women
A safe and supportive space for women with brain injuries.
Inspirational Women is a peer support group that was set up for anyone who identifies as a woman with a brain injury. The group was formed when the need for women's only services was identified by members of the Headway Derby community. Read more.
Headway East London
differently various
A first-of-its-kind immersive exhibition experience, led by brain injury survivors.
differently various is a multifaceted immersive exhibition experience which took place in summer 2023 at the Barbican. The project is the culmination of a four-year partnership with the Barbican in which Headway East London members have acted as advisors, designers and artists, challenging the question of who gets to be an artist while also raising awareness of brain injury. Active Engagement for Brain Injury Rehab
Enabling and supporting learning, education, heritage, and culture
This project is about enabling and supporting brain injury survivors and their carers to actively participate in learning, education, heritage, and culture. It also includes close working with Sharing a Story CIC to create ‘life stories’ with individuals to find out more about themselves and others. Read more.

Making Headway Play
An immersive and powerful original play telling first-hand stories of brain injury survivors, their carers and their families.
Making Headway has been born from experts who have lived experience of brain injury. It was written by a professional playwright and author, Pete Barrett, who has volunteered for Headway Essex for over 20 years. Read more.
Headway Norfolk and Waveney
Norfolk County Council Reablement Scheme
An innovative pilot project offering reablement support to brain injury survivors
The Headway Reablement service is a 12-month pilot. The service is commissioned with Headway Norfolk and Waveney to support people with an Acquired Brain Injury by offering them reablement support. It will test the benefits in supporting people prior to their Care Act Assessment. Read more.

Sports Therapy Programme
Access to safe social inclusion lessons for brain injury survivors
One of the aims of Headway Portsmouth and SE Hampshire post covid was to introduce inclusive sport, exercise and leisure activities to support people with brain injury through participation and engagement, reducing frustration and anxiety and improving wellbeing and health in a relaxed and supported environment. DIRECT Service
A service offering one to one and group support to aid understanding of brain injury and to combat isolation
The new DIRECT service is a service that has sought to take the lessons from lockdown support and use it to be able to reach and support brain injury survivors and their families, especially those that live in rural settings and can often feel isolated. Read more.

Brainy Dogs
Headway Suffolk enlist man’s best friend to help brain injury survivors
Brainy dogs started after Headway Suffolk’s CEO read Endal by Allen Parton, a Royal Navy veteran who sustained a head injury and was given a companion dog. Read more.

A collaboration with City, University of London speech and language therapy students

Headway Tyneside
Headway 2 Work
Specialist vocational support, advice and training for people with brain injury
The concept of this vocational provision was developed and launched by Headway Tyneside’s clinical trustees and staff in 2021. The early service delivery model delivered vocational training to groups of learners. However, with achieving better outcomes in mind, the model was revised and a new 1:1 vocational rehabilitation service launched in autumn 2022. Read more.
